Careful software, built in the field
Beels Technologies is an independent software studio in California. We make precision tools for documenting the real world, built by someone who uses them in the field every day.
Software that came out of field work
Beels Technologies grew out of field work, not a business plan. Our founder spends his working days inspecting sites: documenting scenes, taking measurements, researching historical conditions, and digging through stacks of documents. Again and again, the software he needed for that work either didn’t exist or didn’t hold up. So he started building the missing tools himself.
That is still the whole company. We make precision software for people who document, measure, and verify: capturing what’s there, establishing facts, and standing behind every number in a report. That standard comes from our background. Eric’s day job is forensic site inspection, a field where the details are everything, and that bar carries into every product, whoever it’s for.

Eric Beels
Founder, Beels Technologies
Eric is a senior forensic scientist at Beels & Associates, Inc., where he performs site inspections and analysis in support of expert-witness testimony. The tools on this site come directly out of that work; he is user number one for every one of them, and each began as something he needed in the field and couldn’t find.
Before forensics, Eric spent years in video production and podcasting, work that taught him how to document things carefully and communicate them clearly. Both threads run through everything Beels Technologies builds: rigorous about the facts, and plain about presenting them.
Eric always wanted to build software. Claude Code, Anthropic’s AI coding agent, is what finally made that practical for a working forensic scientist, and Beels Technologies is the result.
